COVER STORY
1 Tell us about you:
I’m Karen Campbell, but many people know me as "Karen the Connector." I have a passion for making profitable connections, generating ideas, and strategically leveraging relationships. I'm the founder of The Women of Douglasville organization, which is a group of over 30,000 women in the west Atlanta area. Our goal is to provide a platform for women to positively connect, serve, and impact our community.
I'm proud to say that each day, the women in this group communicate on a level that's new, inclusive, and inviting. I try my best to keep negativity out, and I bring the women together for the greater good of the West GA area. In addition to my work with The Women of Douglasville, I'm also the host of the KTC Radio Show on Hits92.3, "The Real Definition of internet radio."
Overall, I'm dedicated to helping others make meaningful connections and create positive change in their communities. That's a little bit about me and my work, and I'm excited to see where these passions take me in the future.
2. There wasn't an initial goal when I created this group. It was originally just me and 5 or 6 other women in the Douglasville area using the platform to connect and communicate. It grew very organically and has surpassed everything I thought that it would ever be.
3. The WOD IMPACT:
The Women of Douglasville has made a significant impact on the West Georgia community since its inception in 2014. The group has provided a platform for women to connect, serve, and positively impact their community in a variety of ways. Here are a few examples:
Community Service: The Women of Douglasville have helped organize and participate in numerous community service events, such as food and clothing drives, back-to-school supply drives, and volunteer work at local non-profit organizations. These events have helped to meet the needs of those in the community who are less fortunate and have had a positive impact on the lives of many.
Business and Professional Development: The Women of Douglasville also provide resources and support for women who are entrepreneurs, business owners, or looking to advance their careers. Through workshops, networking events, and mentoring, the group helps women to develop the skills and connections needed to succeed in their chosen fields.
Advocacy: The Women of Douglasville are also active in advocating for important issues that affect women and their families. The group has participated in community events to raise awareness about issues such as domestic violence and healthcare.
Overall, the Women of Douglasville have played a crucial role in bringing women together in the West Georgia area, providing a platform for them to serve their community and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
